Zermatt with children, as one day for wondering
Train, mountain and playground. One thing, and in the evening the children’s room in Leukerbad again.

Children like Zermatt because the mountain is suddenly there and because you walk in the village. The day is good when you choose one thing and in the evening you are back in Leukerbad. The children’s room is theirs then, and the day is allowed to end.
What they can touch and see
A path across the meadow, the mountain behind, and the children may run ahead. That is already a whole morning. You do not have to go further when the youngest sits down. The ride up belongs with it. An orange train on the slope, the Matterhorn behind: for many children that is the high point, before the village even starts.
In this lane there are no cars. Flags, wooden houses, people on foot. On a weekday and in the quieter weeks you find a gap to stop. A pause with something warm, and on again while the mood holds.
A playground and a bit of water
The playground has a slide, a roundabout and a climbing frame, and the wall says playground. That is the afternoon when the legs do not want another ride. Then the day is round, and you go back. By the water it is even simpler. Two children, a wooden trough, a little boat, and the Matterhorn behind: that game needs no plan.
Their own room in the evening
In Leukerbad the stream is beside the houses again, a wooden bridge, the rock face above. You are there in a few minutes, and at the baths in ten. The children’s room has two beds. When the door is shut, the living room is yours again.
From Alpine Siesta check-in is from 15:00, so the Zermatt day is one of the days after. At 11:00 on the day you leave, the apartment is empty.
