Alpine Siesta

This is our place in Leukerbad. 65 square metres, quiet, and enough room that nobody is on top of each other. Three rooms, two beds in each: a double room, a children’s room with two singles, and the living room with a sofa bed. A cot folds out if you are travelling with a baby. It works for a week with the children, with grandparents, or with friends.

Getting here

The holiday starts when you stop organising. We are on the first floor. The lift comes up, and there are no steps. After a day out you walk back in and the day is over.

The thermal baths, the village centre and the sports arena are about ten minutes on foot. The Gemmi cable car is five. The La Boheme bus stop, and the bakery of the same name, are two. The bus to the Torrent cable car takes seven minutes.

One outdoor parking space is yours, and your bikes go in the cellar. The guest cards are in the apartment. They get you a discount on things to do around here.

Where you sleep

Three rooms, and they close. When the children are in bed, the living room is still yours: a film, a talk, or just quiet.

Two beds in each room. A double bed in one, two singles in the children’s room, a sofa bed in the living room. The cot is extra.

The bathroom is new: a bath, a mirror cabinet, a toilet, a hairdryer and scales.

Supper and the evening

The kitchen is new as well. New cupboards, an induction hob, an oven that heats quickly, a new dishwasher, and a sink big enough for the pans after supper.

Fondue goes on the induction hob, and there is a raclette too. Coffee is either the CoffeeB machine or the moka pot.

Once you are in: the electric fire, the TV, an Xbox 360, board games, and a play kitchen for the small ones.

Two balconies

One balcony is for sitting, facing the Gemmi. Coffee in the morning, and no reason to be anywhere else. The other has an electric grill. Smoke outside, on the balcony, not in the rooms.

The village

A few photos are Leukerbad, not the apartment: the street, the Gemmi pass, the view down from the Gemmi, and a barbecue on the alp above the village.
