A day in Zermatt, and back in the apartment by evening
Leave early, the village or one ride up, and in the evening you are back in Leukerbad.

One day in Zermatt is enough. You see the Matterhorn above the wooden houses, the Valais flag on its pole, and in the evening you are back where the children have their bed. The outing stays special because it is one day.
Leave early, and keep the pace low
On a weekday the day starts more easily. The ride itself is already a bit of adventure for children: mountains, changing trains, and at the end a village where you simply walk on.

In the village you keep the pace down. A stretch through the lane, the flags above you, a stop where the children want to stand. A warm drink with the mountain in view is often the moment that stays. You do not have to see every lane.
One thing on the mountain or by the water

If you go up, you can arrive at a lake: rocks, grass, and the Matterhorn in the middle. That is a stop, not a circuit. You stay while the children want to play by the water, then you ride down.

If you stay in the village, you have the stream, the path beside it and the mountain between the trees. It is a walk you can end when the legs get short. A ride up and the whole village on the same day gets long. You choose one.
Back in Leukerbad in the evening
In Alpine Siesta the children’s room is ready, two beds, and the living room is yours again. The baths are ten minutes on foot if there is still energy. If not, you stay at the table. Check-in is from 15:00, so this is not the day you arrive. At 11:00 on the day you leave, the apartment is empty.
