Summer with children in Leukerbad, without a timetable
Playground, stream and meadows nearby. The day is allowed to end at home after lunch.

Summer with children in Leukerbad does not need a timetable. You are outside, you have time, and you are allowed to be home again after lunch. The village is small, the rock face is always there, and many paths start at the door, not in a car park.
Summer here has time. You are outside, and at lunch you are home again when that is enough.
Why summer here works without a programme
Families do not need as many highlights as possible. They need a place where a child may stop. In Leukerbad the playground, the stream and the way to the cable car sit in the same small circle. A cable car takes the height when the legs are short. A meadow does not need a ticket.

Paths you can cut short

The stream in the wood is loud and green, and you turn round when the legs want to. The Majingsee above the village fits a morning: up, a pause, and back. The Römerweg is a short walk from the door, without a car.

Eating outside stretches the day. A grill, sausages, and you stay as long as it is fine. Fondue and raclette in the apartment are there when you want to stay in.

A white church on a meadow, mountains behind: a lovely stop, some shade, and then you go on or turn back.
From the apartment
From Alpine Siesta the Gemmi cable car is five minutes on foot, the bakery at the La Boheme stop two, the baths and the centre about ten. You can leave in the morning, come back at lunch and go out again in the afternoon without starting the car. You leave in the morning, you are back at lunch, and you can go out again in the afternoon without starting the car.
The apartment is 65 square metres, first floor, lift, no steps. Three rooms with two beds each, plus a cot. When the children are in bed, the living room is yours. One balcony is for sitting, facing the Gemmi. The other has the electric grill. Smoking is only there. With grandparents it is the same as with the pushchair: no steps, a room of their own, and the chance to come home at lunch.
